Morecambe In The FA Cup

Town to play Morecambe in The Emirates FA Cup

The draw for the Second Round of The Emirates FA Cup has taken place and Town have been drawn at home to Skybet League Two side Morecambe.

Town and Morecambe have played each other regularly over recent years after first playing in the 2002/03 season in the EFL Trophy. The two sides played during the Conference season of 2003/04 and then regularly after Morecambe came into the EFL in the 2007/08 season.

The game will be played over the weekend of 2nd December at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

Paul Hurst is glad to be drawn at home but knows his side will have to again be at it’s best to get through the tie.

“You always want a home tie if you can so we have to be pleased to have drawn Morecambe”, said Paul.

“We feel that we can get through to the next round of the competition, I’m confident in our teams ability but I’m sure that Jim Bentley will feel the same.

“All the teams that are in the draw are one game away from the third round when the big teams come into it.

“Everyone will be looking to get through this round and then to get one of the really big clubs but first we’ve got the game with Morecambe.

“We know that it will be another tough test and one where we will need to show the levels of hard work and commitment that we have so far this season, and if we do then we give ourselves a chance.

“Jim always sets his teams up in a way that you know you have to be at your best to beat and with it being the FA Cup it’s all about who does the job on the day.”
