Toto Nsiala Post Bury

Toto reacts to the 1-0 defeat to Bury

Shrewsbury Town defender Toto Nsiala admitted his side were ‘very poor’ in Tuesday night’s 1-0 defeat to Bury.

Town struggled to get going and a well worked team goal after the break gave the Shakers all three points.

Nsiala accepted that Bury had scored a good goal, but was disappointed with the way Town performed on the night.

“We were just very poor”, Toto admitted.

“I think we didn’t start well and didn’t get any second balls at all. They were just the better team on the night and it’s a massive disappointment for us because we said that would try and capitalise on opportunities like tonight to stay up there, but we just didn’t tonight.

“From their side it’s a good goal, but from our side it is poor defending. We could have done better, we could have stopped it, but all you can say is we learn from it and go again.”

Town could have gone into the break 1-0 up, but Shaun Whalley hit the post with a penalty. Despite the miss, Toto is confident that Whalley will find the back of the net next time.

“He will probably take it next time and he will bury it”, Nsiala said.

“We got a penalty given against us in our last game and it didn’t go in, and we are on the other end of that tonight. It’s a good penalty but it’s just hit the inside of the post and I think we could have got the rebound as well, but it came at Stef quite quick and he couldn’t really do much with it.

This was only Town’s second defeat in the league this season and Toto is looking to put things right against Bradford on Saturday.

“We will feel like this tonight and on Wednesday, but then on Thursday we go back to the training ground, make it right, learn from our mistakes and move on from it”, said Toto.

“That’s why I give credit to Doigy and everyone around the club because we learn from our mistakes, move on very quickly, take each game as it comes and we will put this behind us and go again on Saturday.”
