Women and Girls' Department have announced their October Team of the Month
October has seen busy month for the RTC, BTEC and Ladies teams.
The RTC sides have once again taken to the field producing some pleasing performances, the under 12’s seeing two wins and a draw against strong boys opposition while the under 14’s have seen progress in individual performances. The under 16’s have progressed into the last 16 of this years FA Cup, after defeating MK Dons 5-4 on penalties after going two nil down in the shootout. A 1-1 draw in normal time saw Sadie Craig bag the Town goal.
The BTEC have had a busy month aswell with a strong 2-1 win against Hereford College, with goals from Eleanor Edwards and Emma Morris playing with a player short for the entire game.
Team of the month
B Charnell (U16)
Goalkeeping heroics in the under 16’s FA Cup at MK Dons, saw Town come back from 2-0 down in the shootout thanks to Charnell. The final kicks saw a save from the visitors shot stopper before Charnell stepped up and slotted home the winning penalty.
P Jones (U12)
A pleasing month for the under 12’s defence, competing against some tough male opposition. Jones has physically stood up to the challenge and is showing technical and tactical progress, each game and training session that goes by.
V Owen (Ladies)
Her first full month at the club since signing from Crewe Alexandra, Owen has been in the defence for the three clean sheets this month and has been a driving force in the attacking aswell.
L Nutter (U16)
Since making the step up from under 14’s, Nutter has been a consistent performer in the under 16’s side. Nutter also stepped up in the shootout in the FA Cup game at MK Dons.
G Clarke (U12)
Clarke in October has shown very pleasing performances, being a part of the strong defensive unit in the under 12’s side. Clarke has shown good progress this month and performances to match this.
S Corns (U12)
A versatile player who has played various roles over the past month. Corns has shown she is able to play various roles and has been a part of the team’s success in recent games against challenging opposition.
N Durnall (Ladies)
The first of three players to feature in the team of the month for the second month in a row. Durnall’s performances have seen her net six goals in her last three league games and a good performance in the SSE Women’s FA Cup against TNS secures her place in the team of the month.
L Morris (U14)
Making her second consecutive appearance in the team of the month, Morris has been an engine in the under 14’s midfield, seeing a pleasing development path for her so far since stepping out of grassroots football.
E Edwards (BTEC)
Edwards has had a pleasing month in her first year of the BTEC programme. This month it has seen her grab two goals, one against Walsall and the other against Hereford, from the wing and has been a leader on the pitch against some difficult opposition.
K Doster (Ladies)
Player of the month for October, Doster is the league’s top goal scorer with ten goals from five games, including five goals against Atherstone. The striker has found herself at home since the move across the county town of Shropshire and is the clubs leading scorer.
C Budd (Ladies)
The third and final player who is involved for the second month in a row and has seen her score six times this month, including an impressive four goals at Atherstone. Budd now sits a close second in the clubs and leagues leading scorers and she will put pressure on the leader in the months to come.
