Nolan looks ahead to Rovers test

Shrewsbury Town playmaker Jon Nolan is expecting a difficult game when Town take on Bristol Rovers tonight.

Town will looking to get back to winning ways after picking up a point in their last couple of games

But, Nolan is expecting a tough match against a side he is yet to beat in his career.

“I think it will be a tough game”, admitted Jon.

“Every time I’ve come up against them it’s always been difficult. I don’t think I’ve ever won to be honest, so hopefully we can put that right tomorrow, but it’s definitely going to be a tough game.

“I’m as refreshed as can be expected after such a long journey. It was a long one and I think I got in about 1 O’Clock, but I rested up on Sunday, trained today and we are all raring to go.”

Town have dropped just two points at home this season and Jon believes that good home form will be key to success.

“We want to make our home games a fortress”, said Nolan.

“I haven’t been beaten at home yet, so touch wood I haven’t jinxed us, but hopefully we can give another strong performance.

“We enjoy playing at home in front of the fans. I know it’s a cliché, but they are like a 12th man – especially with more of them coming since we’ve been doing well, so hopefully we can give them another good performance and three points.”

Nolan scored goals in consecutive games last month and he is hoping to add another tonight.

“I’ve had a bit of a dry spell, but hopefully I can chip in with one”, Jon said.

“I’ve got energy and I like to get forward – the staff are on my case if I don’t. I’ve set myself a target goal wise – I’m not going to tell you what that is – but hopefully I will hit that target.”
