West Bromwich Albion U21 Preview

3 October 2017

Marcus looks ahead to this evenings Check

Our next visitors to the Montgomery Waters Meadow are West Bromwich Albion under 21's in the CheckaTrade Trophy. They have played in the Premier League 2 and have lost all of their games apart from a thumping 5-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion. They last played in this competition a couple of weeks ago when they lost 3-1 at Walsall

One to watch

Jack Chambers was Captain of the under-17 side at Linfield in Belfast, before signing up with the Baggies. A Premier League 2 debut followed at the end of the 2016/17 last season and the Skilful Irishman has since appeared in the CheckaTrade Trophy against Walsall.

Referee: Michael Salisbury. Games this season: 8. Yellow Cards: 18.Red cards:  0. Mr Salisury last officiated a Shrewsbury game last season when we beat Charlton at home in February and when we drew 1-1 at AFC Wimbledon. During that latter match, Mr Salisbury sent Ivan Toney off.

Assistant Referee: Joe Simpson and Paul Thompson.
Fourth Official: Amy Fearn .

Squad News

West Brom are expected to include a handful of first team players in their squad tonight.

Town Boss Paul Hurst may give opportunities to squad members on the fringe of the first team.

Prediction

Part of me thinks that it might be good if we lost this one to get the inevitable defeat out of the way and start fresh on Saturday at Walsall. But I'm not sure it quite works that way, a defeat in the cup might be a confidence knock that sees our form slip.

Tonight sees a price drop with adult admission priced at £5 and children at just £1!

Shrewsbury Town 2-2 WBA under 21
