Mike Robinson - Safe Standing Donation

11 October 2017

Our deepest gratitude to one of our most loyal fans

It was with sadness that we reported, last month, the passing of one of our most dedicated fans and long-time programme contributor Mike Robinson.

Reflective of his passion for the Town, his family decided to make a contribution to Shrewsbury Town’s Safe Standing campaign in his memory.

Making the contribution on his father’s behalf, son Paul said ‘the two great passions of Dad’s life were Oswestry Cricket Club and Shrewsbury Town, so we were keen to recognise both with donations from his memorial service.  The Safe Standing Campaign is a great opportunity for us to do just that in a way that will be of lasting benefit to the club and its fans’.

With a contribution of £680, it is a truly incredible gesture of support for the club Mike loved and had already given so much back to. Mike will be forever remembered on the ‘wall of fame’ as well as on a rail seat in the back right of the South Stand, where he used to sit for home games.

Shrewsbury Town CEO Brian Caldwell said of the contribution ‘It is a truly remarkable gesture, from a remarkable man who adored this club. I’m sure I speak for all members of the Town community when I thank Mike for all his dedication and support over the years. It is with our sincerest gratitude that we receive this contribution’.
