Shelis signs pro deal

3 October 2017

Young Defender Christos Shelis signs a deal until 2019

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to announce that Christos Shelis has signed his first professional deal with club.

The 17-year-old joined as a Scholar at the back end of last season and quickly made an impression, featuring a number of times during pre-season

Christos has signed a deal until 2019 and he was delighted to put pen to paper on the deal.

“When I first got offered the deal I was in shock”, Christos told ShrewsWeb.

“I’m really delighted to get rewarded for my hard work and sign this professional contract and I can’t wait to get started.

“I do my best in every training session and every game, and it’s really amazing that the Gaffer and Doigy notice that hard work.”

Cypriot-born Christos has been training with the squad throughout the season and thanked the players and staff for their help and guidance.

“They have really pushed me to my limits”, said Shelis.

“Doigy knows my position, so they’ve really helped develop my game and turned my weaknesses into my strengths, so it’s great to work with them.

“Playing with these players and training with them is a big learning curve for me, so I’m really happy to train with the first team at my age.”

Shelis is now looking forward to getting his head down and trying to push for a place in the matchday squad.

“This is just the beginning really”, admitted Christos.

“It means absolutely nothing. I’ve got to put the hard work in now and prove that I am good enough to play and get in the starting eleven.”
