Marc Lindsey appointed Strength and Conditioning Coach
Shrewsbury Town are pleased to announce that they have appointed a new Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Marc Lindsey joins from Crawley Town and comes with a host of experience having previously worked at this level with Peterborough United.
Marc replaces Andy Hodgen who left the club during pre-season and Manager Paul Hurst is delighted with the appointment.
“It’s taken longer than we would have liked”, admitted Paul.
“Obviously, we allowed Hodgy to join Micky at Tranmere and we were hoping to have someone in a lot sooner. Between George Bunce, who’s also left, and Skitty we’ve certainly got by, but we were missing an extra pair of hands, so we are glad that we’ve got Marc on board.
“He wasn’t in the initial interview process that we went through, but eventually we got wind that he was a possibility and I’m delighted he has come on board because he’s come highly recommended by a number of people.
“It’s another voice for the players, it’s more knowledge for the group to have and we are looking forward to getting to know him properly. He will soon find that it’s a bit of a strange group, but there’s a good atmosphere there and hopefully he can be a big part of that as well.”
High fitness levels have played a huge part in Town’s success this season and Paul wants Marc to come in and add to that department.
“When we first spoke to him about the role he was conscious that we are doing really well and was wondering what he was going to do, but we want his input”, Hurst said.
“It’s not a case of saying ‘do that warm-up because it gives us an extra 20 minutes to have a laugh’, it’s to put things on that will help the players maintain fitness, build fitness and help the rehab along with Skitty.
“It is an important role and one that we are glad that we have got someone in of his calibre and hopefully in time he will be able to show us that.”
