Skitty on New Fitness Coach

Physio Chris Skitt talks about Marc Lindsey's appointment

Shrewsbury Town Physio Chris Skitt is delighted to have a new Fitness Coach on board.

Marc Lindsey joined earlier this week and will work closely with Skitt in the Sports Medicine Department.

Marc comes highly recommended, having previously worked at Crawley Town and Peterborough United, and Chris believes he is capable of taking the squad’s fitness to the next level.

“I’m really pleased”, Skitty told ShrewsWeb.

“He adds a wealth of experience and intelligence to the Sport Medicine Department. He’s someone we’ve known about for quite a while and comes highly recommended from a number of people. We’ve been talking to him for quite a while and we are delighted to get him in eventually.

“It will spread load a little bit, but that’s what we are all about in this department. We want people to come in, take things to the next level and improve on the gains that we already think we’ve got.”

Fitness has played a huge part in Town’s success this season and Skitt believe Marc is the right man to build on that.

“He’s young, he’s enthusiastic, he’s got a wealth of experience and he fits perfectly into the group”, Chris continued.

“It’s a hugely important role, particularly with the importance we’ve placed on fitness and strength this years, so it’s hugely important that he comes in with new ideas and fits into our ethos of where we are going.”

Chris is now looking forward to working closely with Marc and is looking forward to him bringing new ideas to the club.

“We will go through a process over the next few weeks of sitting down and having a look over all that we’ve done and all we are doing, Skitt said.

“Marc will come in with a number of suggestions and we will have a discussion between us and see thing that we can implement, things that we can carry on and things that we might just back off a little bit, all for the good of the team and the good of the club.

“The one thing that blew us away with Marc was his enthusiasm to bring new ideas to the table. He’s come in and he knows what he can do to drive us forward and knows the constraints that we fit within.”
