Morris looking to make his mark at Wembley

Striker Carlton Morris is hoping to bring the trophy back to Shropshire this evening, as Town prepare to face Lincoln City in the Checkatrade Trophy final.

Morris, who has never played football at Wembley before is looking forward to the break in the league campaign to focus on the Checkatrade final, he said: “We won’t have another league game for a while so its like going into the international break off the back of a win.

“But this international break is a cup final at Wembley so it’s something to really look forward too. I can’t wait to get there and spend some time in London and then play the big game on Sunday.”

Although the big occasion is upon the team, Morris isn’t letting the event faze him, he said: “We’re just going to take it as it comes, that’s what we have done as a team all season, we have taken it a game at a time.

“We have turned up, been ready and prepared and that’s what we’re going to do on Sunday. We will be doing a lot of preparation this week. Hopefully what we can do, will be too much for them anyway.”

Morris is looking forward to the occasion and the support his side will get during the day: “I’ve got friends and family who will be turning up in numbers, so I will have a lot of support from my friends and family and obviously from the Shrewsbury fans, so it will be a good spectacle.

“It will be a good day out for everyone, for all the Shrewsbury fans and I think with the support we have got this season, I think they deserve a day out so I’m glad we could get that opportunity for them.”

Morris is looking forward to the game but also feels it’s important to bring the trophy home, he said: “I can assure you all the lads in the changing room want to back up our success we have already had this season. We want something to show for it, whether that is promotion or winning this cup.

“There won’t be a stone unturned, we will be preparing and doing everything right going into the game and hopefully we will have too much for them.

“You can’t go into a game expecting to get nothing, we have got to have confidence going into every game.

“The Fans deserve something for all the support the have given us this season, it does make a big difference.”
