Craig's thoughts after the draw away to Blackpool

Town’s penultimate Sky Bet League One away game against Blackpool ended with Town taking a point away from Bloomfield Road.

A first half goal from Sam Jones gave Town an early lead but the home side levelled the score line through Nathan Delfouneso in the second half.

Craig MacGillivray was kept busy during the game but feels Town’s point was deserved, he said: “On the grand scheme of things in the second half, we will take a point. We had chances in the second half and we could of have had a couple of goals in the first half.

“I didn’t think I was going to be that busy, especially after the first half where I didn’t have a great deal to do, I only made one save but that’s what I’m in the sticks to do, keep the ball out the back of the net.

“It’s nice when you make a save and it gets you a point. You obviously want it to get you three points but it stopped us having a defeat, I didn’t know much about it. I saw the ball over the back stick and next thing you know I’ve turned around and clawed it away, thankfully I did.”

MacGillivray was also pleased for Sam Jones who managed to get his first goal for the club, he said: “I think he deserved a goal on Tuesday, the amount of running he did. He worked hard and he worked hard today and he got his goal.”

Town made the journey to Bloomfield road in their numbers, with over 2,500 Shrews fans in the away end, MacGillivray praised the travelling support, he said: “It was some sight, when you walk out of the tunnel see all these fans in their beach wear and the inflatable balls going everywhere, brilliant.

“It was just unfortunate that we just couldn’t get them that three points today to finish it off. The fans have been absolutely superb, the away support, the home support and non-stop singing.

“They’ve helped us this season, they have helped us get over the line multiple times this season and long may it continue going into the Play-Offs.”

Town’s next game is the final home game of the league season against MK Dons at The Montgomery Waters Meadow before heading into the Play-Offs.
