Lowe's thoughts after the defeat at home to Charlton

Shrewsbury Town fell to a disappointing 0-2 defeat at the hands of Charlton Athletic after two late second half goals.

The set piece header from Jason Pearce and Chipped goal from Josh Magennis secured all three points for the visitors and ensured the Addicks took the points back to The Valley.

Town defender Max Lowe was disappointed with the result but feels that the Town side can do better, he said: “We are all gutted to be fair, we went in at half time really confident and then we came out in the second half and it was a completely different story.

“They got the early goal in the second half and we kind of struggled to get going, we’re looking back at the game full of regret.

“We need to move onto Saturday now because the fans deserve a better performance than that.

Although disappointed at the result, Lowe feels his side showed some promising football in the first half, he said: “The most disappointing thing about it was that I thought we took the game early on really well. Played well as a team.

“We were always really aggressive, then it just changed in the second half. We’ve not really got an answer for it but we will all have a chat together and move on towards Saturday.

“We knew we needed to get the first goal really to kick on and push on and get a second. As soon as they scored the first you could tell it was panic stations on our behalf when we pushed forward to try and get the equaliser, it came back on us towards the end.

Lowe also voiced the importance of a positive reaction against Bury on Saturday, he said: “We will take it game by game, we want to win every game we play and we go on Saturday to try and get that three points.

“We will move on to Saturday because we need the three points, we need to get going again. The Gaffer said don’t get too down and prove everyone wrong on Saturday by getting the three points.”
