Oteley Road Access Path Planned

Access path between Lidl and PowerLeague set to open

Shrewsbury Town are in further discussion with Lidl and their contractors PAB (London) over the creation of a direct walkway from Oteley Road to access The Montgomery Waters Meadow.

CEO Brian Caldwell has had numerous meetings with the relevant parties and is happy the discussions are progressing.

Caldwell spoke again with the retailer recently and has provided this update, he said: “We are still trying to push this along, Lidl are coming near to finishing the store which should be open a week before the Lionel Richie concert.

“They are working with us to see if we can provide a pathway, which we will do between Power League and the new Lidl store. We retain a piece of land there and we are just looking at what the best option is to try and get access from Oteley Road.

“There is a slight incline coming from the stadium onto Oteley road, so we spoke with them and their contractors last Thursday and had a representative of the council there.

“I have had a further meeting today to hopefully come up with a practical solution that avoids pedestrians having to come through the main area. It also stops people from having to clamber over fences and down muddy hills to access the stadium and Superblues Way.

“It will provide a direct access to the stadium which is something supporters have been asking for, for a while so it’s an ideal time to do this because we have retained that strip of land between Power League and Lidl.”
