Paul Hurst pre Bury

Gaffer's thoughts ahead of the Shakers visit

Town’s next fixture is against Bury at the Montgomery Waters Meadow tomorrow afternoon, as the Shrews look to gain another key three points.

Despite already being relegated, Bury scored three goals and earned a draw against an inform Doncaster side and will prove a stern test for Paul Hurst’s men.

Hurst feels it’s important for his team to respond and have a positive result against the Shakers after the disappointment of the result on Tuesday night, he said: “I think you always want to try and win the next one after a defeat. We want to get back to winning ways.

“It’s a different type of game, coming up against a side who have been relegated already but I’m sure they will have the characters in the team, that the manger will pick who he feels will still have a bit of pride in the shirt.

Whilst Town could still achieve automatic promotion, the points margin has been widened due to Blackburn winning their game against Peterborough 3-1 but Hurst isn’t letting this factor change his squad selection, he said: “What I will do is pick teams that I think still give us a very good chance of winning the game first and foremost.

“Secondly, what ever we decide it’s with our own interests in trying to make sure that we’re in the best shape possible, if it is how it looks, it will be Play-Offs.”

Despite already being relegated from The Sky Bet League One, Bury managed to score three goals in their last game and earned a draw away at Doncaster Rovers. Paul feels Bury will be looking to get another positive result, he said: “Every game is tough, Doncaster have been in good form.

“I know what type of character Ryan Lowe is; he’s publically said he’s very disappointed in his group of players and he’s not happy.

“I think that’s where he will pick his teams now having one eye looking towards next season already but also to go out there and fight.

“From that point of view I expect it to be difficult and we have got to try and get over the disappointment of Tuesday very quickly.”
