Gaffer's thoughts ahead of Tuesday nights game at home to Charlton

Paul Hurst’s men next face Charlton on Tuesday evening at The Montgomery Waters Meadow. Town last secured a point away at Bradford City and will be looking to use that momentum to gain all three against the Addicks.

Hurst feels the response from the players has put his side in good stead for the game against Charlton, he said: “Overall, the response from the players was positive, after the disappointment of the final. It took a little bit to get going, but once we got that out of the system we finished the first half better and certainly the second half.

“I thought we really started on the front foot. The sending off made it more difficult but even then I thought we were positive and if anything I thought we were the ones who were pushing but overall I was pleased with their attitude and application.”

Charlton are also promotion contenders and are looking to gain a play off spot, Hurst feels that will make for a good game against two good sides, he said: “Tomorrow night we have a game against Charlton who have got Play Off ambitions.

“They have got a tough run in, I read Lee Bowyers comments, he’s staying positive and he thinks they can win those games. If they do, I’m sure they would end up in the Play Offs.

“We are at the point where we might as well go for it, if the game is in the balance it might be the case you lose by two or three by just trying to win the game.

“We will see what unfolds tomorrow night but we are conscious that we need to win the game.”

Hurst feels the fans can make an impact during this end of the season and feels the support will spur his team on to get the much wanted victories, he said: “We have got a lot of home games left, we want the fans to get behind us like they have done all season and really try and help spur the lads on to get the victories that we are really craving.”
