Gaffer talks to Sky Sports prior to the Final
The day has finally dawned upon Paul Hurst’s Men. Town take on Lincoln City in the Checkatrade Trophy Final at Wembley this afternoon.
Although the game is a big occasion for Shrewsbury Town Football Club, Paul admits he is treating the game as normal as possible, He said: “We came down a few days earlier, very similar to what I have done in the past. Other than that, it’s been normal preparations.
“Honestly, I couldn’t tell you if they’re going to handle it or not. I’m obviously hopeful, I’ve tried stressing that its 11 v 11 as always, its just a nicer pitch and a bigger stadium.
“There’s no problem with them feeling the nerves as long as we can control them.”
Paul is happy with the progress his team have made over the last year but is fully focused on the match at hand, he said: “Some one mentioned earlier, how far we have come since we got to the club, but today is all about trying to win a competition.
“The past is the past, we want to try and make a little bit of history for the football club and I’m sure the players will do everything they can to be victorious and lift that trophy at the end.”
