Forward Lee Angol signs for an undisclosed fee from Mansfield Town

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to confirm the signing of Lee Angol from Mansfield Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the Montgomery Waters Meadow, with an option for a third year.

The striker joins Town after having spells with Peterborough United, Boreham Wood and Lincoln City.

The former Tottenham Hotspur youth product is pleased to have made the move to Shropshire and is looking forward to linking up with his new team.

“I’m excited,” said the striker. “Once I knew this opportunity could happen, I was just hoping it would get over the line.

“You can see what direction this club is heading and I want to be a part of that, so I am excited.

“It’s a very good move. At my age now, I need to be playing games, not letting seasons go by.

“It would be nice to be a part of a team that is pushing for the Championship. Hopefully, everyone plays well and we can achieve it.

“I’m excited to be coming back to League One. I want to prove my self and hopefully keep pushing on.”

Despite scoring nine goals in 16 starts, Lee feels he can add more goals to his game and hopes to help fire the team up the table.

“I feel like I can add goals,” the six foot one striker said. “I like to score goals, I like to make a positive impact on the team and lead the line well.

“I don’t play for my self, I play for the whole team and the fans. Once everyone is together, I feel that’s how you get positive results.

“In general play I can drop off and pick balls up in holes, drift out wide and create opportunities.”

Angol will join the squad for training tomorrow and will be available for selection on Saturday.
