Rangers loanee looks ahead to Blackpool game

Shrewsbury Town welcome Blackpool to the Montgomery Waters Meadow this Saturday afternoon.

Askey’s me will be hoping to get the teams first three points on the board against the Seasiders.

Despite the negative results, Greg Docherty feels his team are doing well and hopes to turn their performances into wins.

“I’m enjoying it,” Greg said. “Obviously, we would prefer it if we had more positive results, but performance wise it’s a difficult one to process because we aren’t playing badly.

“We are a new team, there is a lot of new boys and we are still gelling and getting to know each other.

“I think we are benefiting from the games coming along so fast. We have been unfortunate with silly mistakes, but that will clear once we start to gel with each other. We are feeling positive.

“We just need to stay calm, it’s a long hard season. We aren’t even at the end of August yet. We just need to stick together.”

The Town loanee is looking forward to the game and hopes his team will come away with the three points.

“I played against Blackpool in pre season,” Greg told Shrewsweb. “They’re a physical side.

“I know a couple of players from there who were at Rangers last year, so I know there is some good players in the team.

“They have some experienced guys who have played at the top level as well, for example Jay Spearing.

“They will be well organised but we are so close to getting it right. I hope on Saturday we do, we are all desperate to make it happen.

“I know they are a good squad, a physical squad with some big players and they’re dangerous. We need to match their threat and be a threat going forward.”
