Gaffer reacts to the signing of Mansfield Town Forward Lee Angol
Shrewsbury Town boss John Askey is pleased to have brought Lee Angol to the club on the final day of the transfer window.
The striker joins Town for an undisclosed fee, signing a two-year deal, with an option for a third.
“With Stefan going, obviously we had to do something,” the Town boss said. “Lee is one I have been looking at since I came here.
“I think he’s different to what we have got. He’s another big lad, he’s quite quick, skilful and his goal record is decent. He’s still someone who is improving.
‘The first time I saw him was was at Lincoln; he did really well for Lincoln. His record prior to that was really good.
“Hopefully, coming to us he can get his career going again and push on from there.”
John also gave an insight to what the fans can expect from Angol, come match day.
“He’s big, he’s tall, he’s quite quick and he has a decent touch. All those things combined, if his attitude is right and puts the effort in, he should go a long way.
“With the attributes that he’s got and the players around him that we have got, they can give him decent service and he can get some goals for us.
“With Stefan going, it was important we replaced him with someone similar. He can play in a wide position, as well as down the middle.
“I’m hoping that now, we can just concentrate on the playing side of it, now that the window has closed.
“We have a squad together and we have some quality in there now and we are looking to push on.”
Angol will be available to John Askey for the Charlton Athletic fixture this weekend.
