Gaffer looks ahead to the league game against Blackpool
Shrewsbury Town take on Blackpool in their third Sky Bet League One fixture this Saturday.
Town will have the chance to get the first three points of the season on the board against the Seasiders.
Despite losing out in the last fixture, Town boss John Askey feels the mood around the camp is still positive ahead of the next fixture.
“It has been positive,” the gaffer said. “We just to keep our heads up and keep playing, which the players are doing.
“We trained today and everything has been really positive. We have just got to keep going and hopefully we get that win, confidence will come from that.
“I thought we were unlucky the other night. There are still things we need to work on.
“The last thing I want to do is drag the players down, so you have got to stay positive and tell them what they’re doing well and also go over what we aren’t doing so well.”
Askey is expecting a tough game from Blackpool and feels his side will have to be focused to get a result.
“We have to go into that game and get at Blackpool and play with plenty of enthusiasm and confidence.
“The Barnsley game would have given them a lift, but it will be similar to games we have played and it’s a game that we can win.
“If we play to our capacity and cut out the silly mistakes we have a great chance.”
John also made a point of acknowledging the fans support during the early stages of the season.
“The fans have really got behind the team,” John told Shrewweb. “All credit to the supporters. To turn out in the numbers that they did for the first game, even against Burton, it was great.
“It’s important that they stick with the players and keep getting behind them, full credit to the supporters, they have been fantastic.”
Town will welcome the Seasiders to the Montgomery Waters Meadow this Saturday.
