Gaffer looks ahead to the trip to the Keepmoat

Shrewsbury Town are on the road again as Askey’s men take on Doncaster Rovers.

Town will travel to the Keepmoat Stadium for the 7:45pm kick off against the Rovers tomorrow evening.

Askey reflected on Town’s previous fixture and feels his side are in good shape to take on Grant McCann’s side.

“I thought the performance was good,” Askey told Shrewsweb. “Just finishing the final ball is letting us down.

“Hopefully, if we keep putting in performances like that, then it won’t be too long before we start getting the results we want.

“We have always got to be confident, especially when we’re playing decent football.  The shape of the team was better and things looked promising.

“Hopefully, that will be the case tomorrow, but every game is different.

“It will be tough at Doncaster, they’re a decent team, but I am confident in the players that we have got.

“There are things we can improve on, not only on the attacking side but defensively as well. It’s going in the right direction, but we need results.”

Askey is expecting a tough game from the Rovers when his team visit the Keepmoat Stadium.

“They’re a footballing team,” John told Shrewsweb. “They play very similar to ourselves. They try to get the ball down and play and they have good individuals.

“It will be a good test for us and one we are looking forward to.

“Doncaster probably underachieved a little bit last season, but for the league that they are in they are quite a big team.

“I think we have got the players that who ever we play in this league, we can more than match.

“If we get off to a good start and people play to their ability, then there is no reason why we can’t go there and win.”
