Gaffer looks ahead to the away game against Luton Town

Shrewsbury Town are back on the road as Askey’s men take on Luton Town

Town will travel to Kenilworth Road on Saturday in search of their first win of the Sky Bet League 1 campaign.

Askey is expecting another tough test against Luton but is confident his side can take something from the game.

“The atmosphere can be quite volatile,” Askey told Shrewsweb. “But when I’ve gone with other teams we’ve done quite well.”

“We’ve got to go there and try and keep the crowd quiet and put in a performance like we did against Doncaster”

“The main thing is to stay in the game for the first 20 minutes. If you can do that we’ve got a good chance.”

“Luton will be a good game and a good atmosphere. They’re on the up. They’ve got the momentum. That’s a big thing, players are used to winning. They’ve got a lot of confidence so players are playing to their maximum, but we’ve just got to match them, I’m confident we can get a result”

The game on Saturday will be Town’s third game in the space of a week. However Askey doesn’t believe it should be a problem.

“They shouldn’t be tired, players just want to play. They should be relishing these games at the start of the season.”

Luton Towns Danny Hilton is one to watch Askey believes. “He works his socks off for them and gets rewarded for it every-time”

Askey is keen to keep the same starting 11 that have started the last two games and is not looking to rotate his squad. “I think players have got to play for their places”
