Lee Angol Post Manchester City U21's

29 August 2018

Angol reflects on the match and his goal scoring form.

Shrewsbury Town kicked off their Checkatrade Trophy campaign against Manchester City U21’s at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

The game ended 1-1 after Man City scored a penalty in extra time. Town managed to get the extra point by winning the game on Penalties.

Lee Angol scored the goal for Town in regular time. It was his second goal in two consecutive starts for Shrewsbury

“I’m happy, I’m really happy,” Angol told Shrewsweb. “But to get a win this time thats the most important thing, to help the team win.”

Scoring two goals in two has really helped Angol’s confidence.

“It really helps, scoring goals is what I’m here to do. To score and get the win is a good bonus”

Angol believes getting this win will have a great impact for everyone in the club.

“When you get a win the atmosphere around the place completely changes, if you get a loss it’s a different vibe, with a win everyone is more positive and wants to go out there and go again and again”

Man City provided a different threat last night compared to what Shrewsbury have come up against so far this season. However Angol was happy with how his side adapted.

“It was a different challenge for us and I think we coped well with it and learned a lot as well. We know Saturdays game will be completely different but we can bring things we learnt from tonight to the next game.”

“I feel like in the past few weeks we’ve been playing well but not getting the results, but it doesn’t matter how you win its the results that help you get momentum”

“We take this result into Saturday and make this win into another win and hopefully its like a snowball effect”
