Take a look at how our players got on away from the club
It was mixed emotions for Ryan Sears on Saturday as he was sent-off in AFC Telford United’s 3-2 victory over Spennymoor. The Bucks were 1-0 down at the break, but three goals in quick succession gave them the upper hand heading into the final 15 minutes. However, Sears was sent-off for a second-yellow card with 10 minutes to play after appearing to delay a free-kick and it made for a nervy ending with Spennymoor getting one back, but Telford held on to make it five games unbeaten at the start of the 2018/19 National League North Campaign. That result leaves them in third position in the league on 11 points.
It was a disappointing day for John McAtee, who could do little to stop Ashton United’s 5-1 hammering at the hands of Brackley Town. McAtee was again used from the bench, this time coming on in the 39th minute with Ashton losing 1-0, but after the break it became very difficult for the Greater Manchester side who conceded four more times before Craig Hobson’s late consolation goal. That result leaves Ashton 15th in the National League North with five points from their opening five games.
