Mat Sadler Pre Bristol Rovers

Captain looks ahead to Saturday's game against The Gas

Shrewsbury Town next look ahead to the visit of Bristol Rovers to the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

The Pirates travel to Shropshire after only picking up three points so far in their campaign.

The Shrews captain, Mat Sadler, feels the fixture against the Rovers is a big game for his team, who are also looking to pick up more points.

“It’s a big, big game,” Sadler told Shrewsweb. “Both teams haven’t started great this season.

“I think we can go above them if we win the game. For those reasons, it’s a big game all of a sudden at this early stage of the season.

“We really need to get off the mark, but there has been good signs.

“We have been close to victories here and there, but we really need to bring it all together Saturday and get that three points.

“In terms of how performances have gone so far – I don’t think we feel that it has correlated with the points total that we have got.

“It was good on Tuesday night to win that penalty shootout. There is a good positive vibe because we feel we have some good players.

“It doesn’t feel like that first win is a long way away, lets hope it comes on Saturday.”

Sadler is expecting a tough game from the Pirates, as they will also be looking to pick up more points after a difficult start to the season.

“It’s the third home league game in, so it’s an important game anyway,” Sadler said. “You want your home place to be a fortress and you want it to be the place where you pick up the majority of your points.

“We know the threats that they have and pose. People like Rodman and Payne, but other threats they had from last season are still there.

“We know they’re decent and a good team. We know that it will be a tough, tough game. That said, we will be going all out to get those three points.”
