Ollie Norburn Signs

Midfielder looking forward to working with John Askey again

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Oliver Norburn from Tranmere Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old joins Town after signing a three-year deal at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

Norburn came through the academy ranks at Leicester City before having spells with Bristol Rovers, Plymouth Argyle and Macclesfield Town.

Oliver is delighted to finally have the deal over the line after weeks of speculation regarding his future.

“I’m delighted,” said Norburn. “There has been speculation for some time, but I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to get stuck in and hopefully start performing on the pitch.

“I have stayed professional and just cracked on with things. It came about at the start of pre-season and now we are getting towards the second game. It has been difficult, but I’m glad it’s over the line.

“It was a great season for us last season. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s one I made and I’m more than happy with.”

Norburn is pleased to be linking up with his former boss and is looking forward to testing him self at a higher level.

“I have worked with the gaffer before, I am looking forward to working with him again,” said Oliver.

“I like what they’re trying to do here. They finished third last season, so it’s a great place to come, a great place to start working and I can’t wait to crack on.

“I feel like I have worked hard to get where I am in the last few years. I dropped down the leagues but I’m ready to climb back up them.”

Norburn also gave an insight to what the fans should expect from the midfielder come match day. He said: “I like to get on the ball, dictate play and make things happen.

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on my self, but I’m ready to go out there to perform and give everything.”

Oliver will be available to John Askey right away as his team prepares for the trip to The Valley this weekend.
