PREVIEW: Doncaster Rovers

21 August 2018

Marcus Braddock previews tonight's away game against Doncaster Rovers

Tonight, Shrewsbury Town face Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium in the fourth League One game of this season. Doncaster have made a very good start to the season with two wins and a defeat, scoring seven goals in the process. Their first game of the season was a 3-2 away win at Southend and followed that up with 3 goals and a clean sheet against Wycombe at home to Wycombe. They kept the winning habit up and beat Scunthorpe in the League Cup but lost their most recent game at Burton 1-0.

Top Scorer
Mallik Wilks 3
John Marquis 2

Stats
The first interesting statistic, albeit after just three games, is that Doncaster have yet to score or concede a goal in the first half of any of their games so far. The second is that in home games two thirds of their goals were scored in the last fifteen minutes which could suggest good fitness levels throughout the game.

Squad News
Ollie Norburn should be available for selection after missing out against Blackpool.
Doncaster loaned defender Luke McCullogh to Tranmere in the last day.

Summary
As ever, I'm not sure what to make of this one so early in the season. On form Doncaster should win this but they did lose to Burton on Saturday so there are certainly chinks in the Doncaster armour. Manager Grant McCann seems confident, looking at the game as an opportunity to get another three points. John Askey should have some confidence going into this game after a decent performance on Saturday and having earned our first point of the season, I'm hoping that things will snowball in the right direction.
