Ryan Haynes looks back on the Carabao Cup defeat

Shrewsbury Town’s Carabao Cup campaign came to an early end, with the defeat against Burton Albion last evening.

Askey’s men would have been frustrated with the result, after getting into the lead in the first half.

Defender, Ryan Haynes, was disappointed with the result but feels there is more to come from him and his team.

“It’s not the result we wanted,” Ryan said. “The main thing in football is to get wins.

“You can play as well as you want but you have to win and that’s not happened with us.

“You wouldn’t believe how hard we work in training, we work so hard to put it right on a match day.

“You can see the signs of it all coming together, we just need that final click. The goals we gave away were sloppy, so we just need that click and togetherness and we will start getting wins.

“If I was playing my best football and everyone around me was, we would be winning games.

“It’s a team game, I could have the best game of my life and still lose and I would be unhappy.”

Ryan also acknowledged the fans support during the early stages of the season and hopes to be sending them home happy soon.

“The fans are so good,” Haynes said. “They’re so loud throughout the whole game, even when we go down they’re still encouraging us.

“We can’t thank them enough. They’re another man, when they get behind us you can feel it and there is a spirit there. We want to make them happy and repay them.

“Obviously, it’s just not working at the minute, but when it all comes together we will repay them.

“Saturday is a huge game. Like the gaffer said, it can be a snowball effect, if we win we could just keep on winning.”

Town’s will welcome Blackpool to the Montgomery Waters Meadow this coming Saturday.
