Defender Luke Waterfall joins from Lincoln City on three-year deal

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to confirm the signing of Luke Waterfall on a three-year deal

The 28-year-old defender Joins Town from Sky Bet League Two side Lincoln City, for an undisclosed fee.

The National League and Checkatrade Trophy winner joins Town after 136 appearances for the Imps, scoring 16 goals along the way.

Luke is pleased to finally have the deal over the line and is looking forward to getting started.

“I’m delighted to be here,” Luke said. “It has been going on for a few days now. I’m glad to have finally got it over the line and get it all signed up.

“I’ve had a look at the stadium, the stadium us fantastic and the facilities are good and I am really looking forward to cracking on.

‘It is a step up from League two where I have been playing. The Football Club looks really good, the people involved come across really well so it’s a real challenge that I am really looking forward to.

“I’m 28 now and Shrewsbury have shown a lot of faith in me offering a three year deal, which shows a level of commitment on their part and I want to repay that with good performances on the pitch.

“I like to think I’m a bit of an organiser, like to class my self as a leader as well and quite an old fashioned centre back. I like to win my headers and my tackles.”

Waterfall has previous experience playing under Askey due to a loan to Macclesfield in 2014. The defender is pleased to link up with his former boss.

“I’m really looking forward to the next chapter for me and my family,” said Askey’s new man. “I know the manager, I’ve worked with him before at Macclesfield a few years ago.

“So I know what to expect fro John and I know what he expects from me. So, all in all it’s definitely the right move at the right time.

“It was only a three month loan spell but I really enjoyed my time there.

“I played with George Pilkington who is here as well, George is a fantastic guy and me and him had a great partnership at centre half during the three months that I was there. That also played a part in my decision.”

Luke is available for selection immediately and will join up with the squad tomorrow.
