Christmas Visits

21 December 2018

The players have been out and about around the county with STITC

The Shrewsbury Town squad have been out and about over the past week with Shrewsbury Town In The Community visiting supporters around the county.

On Tuesday the players went to Hope House in Oswestry then on Thursday there were visits to The Ark in Shrewsbury and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

The players have been spending time talking to the people there as well as handing out gifts.

Shrewsbury Town manager Sam Ricketts was keen to highlight the connection between the club and the community and the importance of such visits.

“Christmas gets highlighted more than any other time but the players go out to do community visits through the whole year”, said Sam.

“Any football club anywhere is the generally the heart of the community and represents that community so it is important that the players go out and visit people.

“It’s especially important at Christmas time when people may have been taken ill and stay in hospital over Christmas.  It’s a time of the year when everyone wants to get together with their family.

“It’s important that if by the players going out on a visit they can put a smile on someone’s face by talking to them for 5 to 10 minutes and giving them a little present.

“It’s vitally important that we continue to do this throughout the season to increase that bond between the club and the community.”

Shrewsbury Town in The Community are out and about around the county all through the year.  If you know of someone or an organisation that would benefit from a player visit please contact admin@shrewsburytowninthecommunity.com
