Coyne And Ramsay Appointed As First Team Coaches

13 December 2018

Sam Ricketts gives his thoughts on his new coaching set-up.

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to confirm that Danny Coyne and Eric Ramsay will both take on First-Team Coach roles under Sam Ricketts.

Eric and Danny oversaw the Town during the clubs managerial search and guided the team to a string of positive results.

Sam Ricketts was pleased to have the two on board and feels they will be an important addition to the managerial team.

“Danny and Eric have done a great job at the club before I came in,” Town’s manager said. “One of the big plusses for me was how well they had done.

“I’m fortunate in that I knew them before I came in, which was another big plus.

“What we have tried to do is continue what they started and keep putting more layers onto it.

“I have come in and I want to keep working with Eric and Danny very closely to keep progressing and keep trying to improve.”

Sam feels the pair have been important to the clubs recent good form and feels they will play an important role within the team going forward.

“The players were receptive to them because they are good at their job,” said Sam.

“They are good people who are good at their job and that’s what I like. I like personalities in my players and with my staff as well.

“I want staff who want to be successful and staff who want to go above and beyond for the club to be successful.

“Sometimes it goes un-noticed what the staff do. It’s not just Danny and Eric – there is an awful lot under those who do an awful lot. Without them, the club wouldn’t be where it is now.

“The club is in a good environment, we are in a phase where we are good, but we are still looking to improve and get better.”

Phil Smart continues in the role of goalkeeping coach.
