Luke Waterfall post Burton Albion

9 December 2018

Luke Waterfall reflects on Town's 2-1 defeat at the Pirelli Stadium.

Shrewsbury Town were unable to take any points away from Burton Albion last evening.

The home side took an early lead and never looked to let go of their advantage – seeing the game out to win 2-1.

Town defender Luke Waterfall was disappointed with the result but feels there were positive signs from his team.

“The lads are frustrated,” Luke said. “We are disappointed and we felt we had a couple of decisions not go our way.

“I thought we did well overall, but we conceded two sloppy goals, which has obviously cost us.

“Other than that, I thought the lads played well and on another day we could have had a couple of goals.

“It’s not a great start when they score early. We need to be better away from home.

“We will do better. We are looking forward – the Gaffer has come in and I am sure we will pick up points and put this right.

“We could see an equaliser coming. We were on the front foot and pinning them back.”

Luke was frustrated to have conceded the second goal as he feels his team limited the opposition to few chances.

“We went and conceded the second sloppy goal,” Luke said. “It put us on the back foot.

“The second goal they scored was perhaps their only real chance of the second-half to be honest.

“We pinned them back in their own half. The lads are frustrated more than anything in there.

“We felt we definitely should have come away from here with something.

“We are looking forward to the next game, we always fancy ourselves at home.

“It’s the away form that we need to put right, but at home we have a good run going and I am sure next week will continue and get points on the board.”
