Sam Ricketts post Burton

Sam Ricketts reflects on Town's 4-3 victory over Burton Albion.

Shrewsbury Town remain unbeaten in the Central League Cup after an entertaining 4-3 victory over Burton Albion.

Lee Angol with a hat trick and Shaun Whalley with an incredible free kick saw Town get the win over the line, despite coming from behind twice in the game.

Shrewsbury Town Manager Sam Ricketts spoke to Shrewsweb after the final whistle and expressed how pleased he was about the team's performance.

"It was a good game, really good for the player's fitness as much as anything.

"Winning the game was a big thing as well especially coming from behind. We did well to win the game, we could have scored more.

"Defending could have been a lot better at times.

"It was really good to see the young players play."

Sam was pleased for Whalley to get 90 minutes under his belt but also score a fantastic goal.

"That's what the game was about, we want to win the game but it's also a fitness exercise for a lot of the players. So there was an awful lot of boxes ticked today.

James Rowland set up Angol for his hat-trick with a deadly pass through Burton's back line

"It's important for the young players to come up, express themselves and show what they've got. I thought he did that very well today. He did really well, good touches of the ball, good energy and obviously got an assist for his hard work as well."
