Sam Ricketts pre Burton Albion

7 December 2018

Sam Ricketts looks ahead to Town's fixture against Burton Albion.

Shrewsbury Town take on Burton Albion in the return to Sky Bet League One action.

Town have the chance to build on momentum and make it seven wins from eight fixtures.

Town manager Sam Ricketts was pleased with his team last time out and is looking forward to seeing more of his squad against the Brewers.

“There were an awful lot of positives against Walsall,” said Sam. “It was an opportunity from my point of view to see some players who haven’t featured just recently.

“It showed that there is a huge amount of quality in the squad and it was really good to get the win.

“Walsall put a strong side out, so to get the win and keep the momentum building was really pleasing.

“If you want to be successful you will always need a squad of players – it’s not just an 11.

“It’s a real squad game now. With the amount of games coming up, it’s important. It gives competition for places.

“The biggest thing in any walk of life is confidence and momentum. There is a big difference in walking onto the pitch hoping to win, than walking onto the pitch and expecting to win.”

Town next take on Burton Albion and will be looking to take all three points away from the Brewers.

“I am really looking forward to getting back into league action,” said Sam. “It’s a good game against a good side.

“We know we will have to play well to get the result we want, but it’s definitely something we are capable of doing.

“We will be going there to try and get the three points and see where that takes us.

“No games are easy. They are a good side who move the ball well – we know we will have to be well organised.

“When we get our chances we will need to take them. We are full of confidence because of the run we are on.”
