Sam Ricketts pre Coventry City

20 December 2018

Sam Ricketts looks ahead to Town's tie with Coventry City.

Shrewsbury Town welcome Coventry City to the Montgomery Waters Meadow this weekend for Sky Bet League One action.

Town managed to secure a draw against the last visitors, Peterborough Untied, and will be looking to go a step further this Saturday.

Sam was disappointed his team didn’t come away with all three points last time out feels his team can further improve going into the next game.

“I was happy with the point,” said Sam. “But the circumstances of how that point came about when we were so close to getting all three was disappointing really.

“There were some really good bits in the game but certainly bits we can improve on.

“If we do improve on those, what happens is we see that game out and clinch the three points.

“It wasn’t so much the ending, it was little bits of play throughout the game. The ending is a consequence.

“There is a process with knock on effects during the game. There are little bits I want to improve on.

“However, we were good and we were better than what we were at Burton, so it’s just a case of constantly improving.”

Town welcome Coventry City to the Montgomery Waters Meadow this weekend and Sam is looking forward to the test the Sky Blues will bring.

“Coventry are a massive club,” said Town’s manager. “It’s a tough game against a side under a good manager.

“They haven’t been wining but they have been playing well and they try to play football, try to play out from the back and try to control the game with the ball.

“They have got some really good players, especially in the midfield and some threats upfront.

“We have to be very organised and ready for it and ready for what we are going to face.

“The next game is always the most important and we will be trying to win.”
