Sam Ricketts pre Fleetwood Town

31 December 2018

Sam Ricketts looks ahead to Town's fixture with Fleetwood Town.

Shrewsbury Town return home this weekend to take on Fleetwood Town at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

Town will be looking to build on the draw against Sunderland and take all three points from the Cod Army.

Sam was pleased with the point and admits there were many positives from his side’s performance.

“It was a really good result,” said Sam. “It wasn’t the three points that we wanted, but as a performance and a result – it was very pleasing.

“The players attitude to carry out the game plan was pleasing. It was put to them and the way the executed it over the 90 minutes was really good.

“It told me a lot about the players discipline and their self sacrifice when asked to something they wouldn’t prefer to do.

“I thought the whole team were excellent. Luke got the goal and he’s good in the air.

“I said the day of the game that we was due a goal. I think if we can put the ball into the right areas – that’s a definite goal threat.

“Set pieces are a big part of football and always have been. We should use Luke to our advantage as much as we can.”

Sam is expecting a tough test from the visitors, but feels his team have enough to win game.

“I now look at the next game ahead,” said Town’s manager. “Fleetwood are another team who have some real talented individuals – especially going forward.

“Their front four are very good and very exciting. They are a good side.

“They seem to play really, really well and win a few games or not quite manage to get over the line in others.

“It’s another game where we know we will have to be very, very alert. We know we will have to cover all of our bases as best we can to get the result we want.”
