Sam Ricketts pre Walsall

4 December 2018

Sam Ricketts looks ahead to Town's Checkatrade Trophy tie with Walsall.

Shrewsbury Town take on Walsall tomorrow evening in the next round of the Checkatrade Trophy.

Sam Ricketts will be taking charge of his first game in charge of Shrewsbury Town.

The Town manager has been pleased with the mornings training and is looking forward to the tie.

“I am really pleased with everything,” said Sam. “I am happy with the facilities here, the players attitude this morning, the tempo and the training.

“You can see a real good work ethic within the players and you can see what they have been buying into in the recent weeks.

“There are some good players here and players who have been able to pick up good results.

“It breeds confidence. Confidence is the biggest thing in any walk of life – whether that is in football or what ever you do as work.

“If you are confident, you are going to do a better job than if not. As a whole everything is really pleasing and I am very impressed.”

Sam is looking forward to his first game in charge and hopes to see his team pick up a win against Walsall.

“It was a really good story for Shrewsbury last year in the Checkatrade,” Sam continued.

“We will be trying to win the game like we are going to every game. It’s a game to look forward to as well.

“Dean Keates is there. They will try to open you up a little bit with the ball and with movement.

“It certainly won’t be an easy game and we will have to play well.

“We are more than capable of winning the game if we perform like I think and know we can.

“You go into everything trying to win the game and this is an opportunity to win a competition.”

Tickets are still available for tomorrow evening’s game with the Saddlers in the Checkatrade Trophy.
