Sordell And Beckles Join Forces To Raise Awareness Of Mental Health Issues

7 December 2018

Players help to highlight The Campaign Against Living Miserably

BURTON Albion’s Marvin Sordell and Shrewsbury’s Omar Beckles  are joining forces to help raise awareness of mental health issues and how to deal with them.

Marvin is an ambassador for the charity CALM. The Campaign Against Living Miserably is a registered charity based in England. It was launched in March 2006 as a campaign aimed at bringing the suicide rate down among men.

To help support the initiative, both sets of players will be wearing CALM t-shirts in the warm up of tomorrow’s game between Burton Albion and Shrewsbury Town at the Pirelli Stadium.

There will be coasters to go in bar areas and wristbands are available in the club shop for a donation to CALM.

Marvin said: “As an Ambassador for CALM I am delighted to work with Omar and to able to raise awareness to a cause that is close to both of our hearts.”

CALM - The Campaign Against Living Miserably is leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. As well as providing a free, anonymous and confidential helpline and webchat which are open every day, 5pm-midnight, CALM works with the whole of society to change a culture that can often prevent men from seeking support when they need it.  Find out more at www.thecalmzone.net.
