Stoke City In The Third Round

Town drawn at home to Championship side Stoke City in the Third Round

The draw for the Third round of the Emirates FA Cup has taken place and Town have been drawn at home to Championship side Stoke City.

Town were ball 50 and Ruud Gullit drew our ball out first with Paul Ince then pulling out ball 37 for Stoke City.

It will be the first time that Town have played Stoke in the FA Cup since we joined the Football League in 1950.  There have been a number of meetings in the League Cup, the latest a narrow 2-1 defeat in 2010/11 season.

The games are scheduled to be played from Friday 4th January 2019 and we will release full details once they are confirmed.

There is a familiar face in the Stoke City side with Ryan Woods having joined the Potters in August of this year.

Town manager Sam Ricketts is looking forward to the game and thinks it’s one his side can do well in.

“You want to get a home draw if you can so we are happy to have been drawn out first”, said Sam.

“We looking forward to playing against a very good side who will test us, but like any FA Cup tie we know we are capable of winning the game and will do everything to do so.

“Especially at home with our full support behind us it’s something to look forward to and get excited about.”
