Morris looks ahead to Yeovil cup game
Town Striker Carlton Morris has spoken of his determination to get past Yeovil Town and make it to Wembley.
Town are just ninety minutes from playing at the national stadium in the Checkatrade Trophy Final on Sunday 8th April, but Carlton isn’t getting ahead of himself and has his eyes firmly fixed on tonight’s game.
“We’ve had a good season and it’s another opportunity to bring success to the Town, but we can talk about Wembley until the cows come home, but we’ve got another big game to concentrate on first before we start thinking about that.
“We will definitely be knuckling down to try and get the result tomorrow whatever the case. We’ve had some good games in this competition and some good draws as well, so hopefully we can go and get the win tomorrow.”
Morris doesn’t know much about tonight’s opponents, but will be preparing the same way as any League One game.
“We will do our intelligence on them and get all our info on their players and the way they play and combat that as best we can”, Carlton said.
“It can be hard to play against teams you don’t know as much about because they can come up with some surprises, but the Gaffer and Doigy are good at preparing us very well, so we will know what we are coming up against.”
If Town can get through tonight’s game they will head to Wembley to face Lincoln City in the final and Carlton is excited by that prospect.
“There are a lot of games played their now, but it’s Wembley at the end of the day and it’s the national stadium, so any chance you get to play there you have to try and take”, Morris continued.
“I went once when I was younger with my school rugby team. I think we played on a quarter of the pitch at half-time in a game, but that’s the only time I’ve ever played there.”
