Brian Caldwell gives an update on the Safe Stadning project

Town Chief Executive, Brian Caldwell, is pleased with the progress that is being made towards bringing Safe Standing to the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

A Supporters’ Parliament statement, which was released on Tuesday, stated that the Safe Standing Units were close to being completed and that more details would be announced in the next couple of weeks.

The club has been in close contact with the various organisations involved in bringing Safe Standing to Shrewsbury Town and Brian is hopeful that it will become a reality soon.

“The Supporters’ Parliament have spoken to Ferco this week to get an update on where they are with the units”, Caldwell said.

“The advice they were given was that the units are practically finished and that they will be back in touch with them in the next couple of weeks with regards to shipping dates to get the units back over here.

“We are obviously not planning anything until such time as we know that everything is going to be here and then we’re going to have the job of trying to pick an appropriate time to install.

“I think at one point I said that it might have been February, but when would we have fitted in the installation in February with all these games? It’s probably been a bit of a godsend that the units haven’t been finished in that time scale and we will now wait and see when they are coming in and try and plan from there.”

The Supporters' Parliament will be meeting to discuss this further on Tuesday 13th March at 7pm in the Arthur Rowley Lounge.
