Bolton looks ahead to Charlton game

Shrewsbury Town defender James Bolton is looking for Town make it four away wins from four when they travel to Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

Town have struggled recently at home, picking up just two points from a possible 12, but on the road they have found success with wins against Fleetwood Town, Bristol Rovers and Portsmouth.

Bolton is now hoping that Town can once against take home three points on their travels.

“The last couple of games we’ve tended to play a little bit better and be a little bit more solid away, so hopefully we can get a result on Saturday”, said James.

“We’ve had some tough games away, Portsmouth and Bristol Rovers particularly. I think if you are winning away it’s always a good sign, but you need to be winning your home games as well really.

“Maybe you don’t feel the pressure of playing at home, I don’t know, but there has been a pattern this season where at times we have played better away.”

However, it won’t be easy for Town against a Charlton side who are back in the play-offs after their 2-1 win over MK Dons last weekend.

“They’re a big side with a lot of history”, Bolton said.

“We’ve just looked at some of the starting elevens they have played this season and you can see that they’ve got plenty of quality in the side, so it’s going to be a tough game.

“They’ve got some good young players that will give us a good test, but it’s the same as any team in this league and if you’re not up for it you will get beat.”

Town have conceded just 26 goals in Sky Bet League One this season, but they haven’t managed to keep a clean-sheet yet in February and Bolton wants to try and change that tomorrow.

“The last couple of games the goals haven’t been that good”, James said.

“A lot of set-pieces, which is very unlike us, but maybe we haven’t had that luck that we had at the start of the season.

“I think at the start of the season we got away with a few things and we got a little bit lucky. Throughout the season you are going to get a little bit of good luck and bad luck, so maybe it’s just one of them.”
