Charlotte Sewell reflects on the season so far for Shrewsbury Town Ladies
Without a game for the past two weeks due to postponements, Shrewsbury Town Ladies Skipper Charlotte Sewell has given her thoughts on the season so far, with some tough fixtures and a FA Cup run all playing their part over the first part of the season.
“We have had a positive season so far, with a some decent results. However it’s frustrating with the little amount of league games we’ve managed to play due to weather, so we still have plenty of games to play to get to exactly where we want to be!”
“The team have done well, we were a new team with new management and a new style of play but we’ve all adapted well to the changes and it works well for us. We see it more and more as the games go on, we have a strong variety of players and there’s always competition for places, which is extremely healthy.”
“We have a good half of the season left and we are all feeling positive wanting the best results possible. We also the semi final of the county cup to look forward to with hopes of reaching the final again, and we’re in the next round of the league cup.”
“We have a lot still to play for so we need to stay focused and continue to work hard to get these results, but with the team we have it’s all possible to achieve.”
As well as working towards their main goal of promotion, each of the ladies players have set their own goals and targets.
“My personal goals for the season, were promotion, county cup and to beat my goal record, so far there all still looking achievable and like I said earlier it’s all about working hard week in week out to achieve it.”
“We only get out what we put in. It’s a pleasure to wear the captains’ armband for this club and personally and as a whole squad we continue to improve. We know as a team we can be the best we’ve been so we just have to keep working towards that.”
