A look at how our players are getting on away from the club

John McAtee scored his first goal and put in a man of the match performance for AFC Telford United as they beat FC United of Manchester 1-0 to ease their relegation worries. McAtee scored in the 35th minute after a neat turn and shot into the bottom corner from inside the box. Telford were able to hold on for the victory and they are now just three points from safety with two games in hand.

There was a clean sheet for Ryan Sears and Callum Roberts as Newtown picked up a much needed victory by beating Prestatyn Town 1-0. The Robins had lost their two previous games but won this one thanks to a fourth minute goal from Tom Goodwin. That result meant their leapfrogged Llandudno into second place in the Welsh Premier League B Division.

Up in Scotland, AJ Leitch-Smith came off the bench for Dundee, but couldn’t rescue a point against Motherwell. Motherwell took the lead through Craig Tanner in the 33rd minute and that is how it would stay, despite Leitch-Smith coming on for the final half-hour. Dundee drop to ninth.

Zak Jules wasn’t involved in the 18 as Port Vale picked up what could be a crucial point against Newport. Vale are only one place above the dropzone in League Two, but are now five points clear of Chesterfield after a dull 0-0 draw on Saturday. Jules had been involved in Vale’s Reserve team match on Wednesday.

Finally, Clitheroe’s game against Mossley was postponed just minutes before kick-off because of a frozen pitch. George Hughes had been named in the starting line-up and was warming up ready for the game when the officials made the decision.
