Paul Hurst Post Plymouth Argyle

Paul Hurst reacts to the 2-1 defeat against Plymouth Argyle

Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Hurst says he is disappointed after losing out to an inform Plymouth side at The Montgomery Waters Stadium: “We are obviously disappointed, we were beaten by the better team.

“I thought Plymouth did very well and reacted to a good start from us and we couldn’t build on that. We seemed to stop doing the things we did earlier on in the game and today we were second best.

“We had a fantastic start but we couldn’t really build on that.

“We haven’t lost games particularly anywhere, never mind here this season at least, but it happens if anything it’s a little reminder for the players that we have to win our home games. Today we couldn’t take advantage of that.

Hurst was disappointed by the goals conceded, saying: “The first one was a joke, its blatantly obvious what’s happened.

“The second, I never like conceding set plays. It was kind of a scruffy one and I need to look back at that further in terms of whether its one of those where you’re not really sure where the ball is or whether it was particularly someone’s error.

“Trying to look at it in a positive light the top two teams have lost or drawn so maybe we could have pulled away, on the other hand we haven’t been punished for our result too much.”

Shrewsbury Town face Fleetwood Town away this coming Tuesday Hurst spoke on the importance of a strong response from his team: “We have got to try and respond, they might feel they’re a little bit fresher but we have got to dig deep and try and go there and get a result.”

The Shrews remain in second place in The Sky Bet League One.
