Winger looks ahead to Blackpool cup tie
Shrewsbury Town winger Arthur Gnahoua is looking forward to having another opportunity to impress when Town take on Blackpool in tonight’s Checkatrade Trophy tie.
This season’s competition has proved a fruitful one for Gnahoua, who has played in all four games so far, scoring against Coventry City in the group stages.
And with Wembley now just three games away, Arthur is hopeful of progressing to the quarter-finals.
“Every game is important”, said Gnahoua.
“It’s important that we try and win to keep our confidence up for the games to come. We are going treat every game the same, so we’ve just got to work hard and hopefully win.
“I’ve played in most of the cup games this season and I hope that we can actually go on and win something.
“I think tonight will be a tough game because they are a good team, but hopefully we can just play like we do in the league and win again.”
Arthur recently started his first home league game for the club against Oldham Athletic and he is looking to get more game time in the future.
“Every game I play I’ve got to improve and show that I am good enough, even though I’m not playing that much”, Arthur said.
“The manager’s got more confidence in me and hopefully I can work on my defending more and get more games.
“I’ve got to work hard in training and keep improving, but the manager is encouraging me and telling me what to do, so I feel like I’m improving every day.”
Arthur has three goals to his name so far this season and he is hopeful of adding to that tally tonight.
“Hopefully I can get a few more goals this season”, said Gnahoua.
“Tonight will be a big game for me, so I hope that I can do well. I don’t really have any targets, but I just hope that I can score as many goals as I can and hopefully I can get more than three this season.”
