Young midfielder joins Evo-stik side on a months loan

George Hughes has joined Evo-stik North side Clitheroe on a month’s loan.

Hughes turned pro over the summer after progressing through the youth ranks at Town.

He had his first loan move earlier in the year with a month long stay at Colwyn Bay.  He has featured for the Town first team earlier in the season coming on as a second half substitute in the CheckaTrade game with WBA.

He joins Clitheroe in time for their Evo-stik league game at away to Ossett Town on Saturday.

Town manager Paul Hurst is hoping the move will help to continue Hughsey’s development.

“It’s important for the first year pros that they go out to play football and we have tried to do that over the season with them”, said Paul.

“Hughesy had the spell with Colwyn Bay earlier in the season and now has the chance to get more experience with Clitheroe.

“The young lads’ attitude to going out on loan and gaining experience has been good and this is gives Hughesy that chance to go and play and continue his development.”
