Ladies sign two in preparation for second half of the season

Town have signed Gwen Davies and Malinda Davies to strengthen their ambitions to gain promotion this season. They currently find themselves with only 9 games played this season, with 15 games remaining to played in the league. It has proven to be a frustrating time with the lack of games this half of the season. The addition of Gwen and Malinda will help squad depth, which could play a big part with the backlog of fixtures in the second half of the season.

Gwen Davies, who is 23, has represented her country at Under 16s level for Wales, playing against USA, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Finland. She has previously played in the Welsh leagues representing Landore WFC, Pontardawe WFC and Margam WFC.

Malinda Davies, aged 19, has previously played in her home country of Poland representing her county from U13s through to U16s. Malinda previously played for her home club, UKS Tęcza Bydgoszcz and has moved over to England to continue her learning.

The ladies have enjoyed a good start to the season but manager Alex Owens feels that these two signings could add the strength required.

"At the start of the season we signed the right amount of players we wanted with the squad but would add quality if found", said Alex.

"Gwen and Malinda are the extra quality who have come in and have raised the bar for the whole team. You can see in training that everyone is giving that extra 10% to prove that place in the starting 11."

"Both are technically gifted and don’t need too much work. Gwen physically is possibly the strongest player in the squad and she will be dominate in the midfield. Malinda is attacking minded and her movements on and off the ball are excellent. She will do well at full back."
