Max Lowe becomes the first signing of the January Transfer Window
Shrewsbury Town are delighted to announce the loan signing of Max Lowe from Derby County.
20-year-old Max, who is primarily a left-back, has joined until the end of the 2017/18 season.
Lowe broke into the Derby team last season making 12 appearances in all competitions, including nine in the Championship, before suffering an abdominal injury.
Max returned from his injury a couple of months and will now continue his development at Shrewsbury Town.
This will be the England youth international’s first loan-spell away Pride Park and he is looking forward to the experience.
“I’m buzzing to finally be here and I can’t wait to get started”, Max told ShrewsWeb.
“I got a call from Dean Henderson at first a couple of months ago and he said that Shrewsbury were really interested in me and it was a no brainer really, so I’m buzzing to have got it sorted.
“I just can’t wait to get playing. The lads are flying and hopefully I can help them get more results like they have been doing.”
Max joins a Town side that are flying in League One and he wants to use this spell as a way to improve as a player.
“I like to say I’m an up and down full-back, but I also do take care of my defending because that’s my number one job, so I’m here to defend and hopefully get a lot of clean sheets”, said Max.
“I had 12 games on the bounce with Derby last season and did relatively well, I would like to think, so hopefully I can show my experience here as well.
“The Championship is a hard league but I took it game by game and with confidence my performances hopefully will become better.
“I’m just going to take it week by week and get to know the gaffer a bit more and the players and hopefully I can get more games under my belt and see where it takes me.”
Max will be eligible for Sunday's FA Cup tie with West Ham United.
