Lowe looks ahead to his first home league game

Shrewsbury Town Defender Max Lowe is looking forward to getting back into league action against Doncaster Rovers.

Town face Doncaster four days after their trip to the London Stadium where they were beaten 1-0 in extra-time by West Ham.

Lowe started the game on Tuesday night and admitted it was a night he will remember for a long time.

“Personally for me it was a great experience, first of all to be starting and then to play as long as I did”, said Max.

“The lads put in a great shift and I think the performance and result showed where we are at at the minute and I thought we performed really well on the night.

“It shows that we are really disciplined and really organised. The first game I played here I learnt how to be organised and I’ve taken that in my stride.

“Another positive is that we had chances as well, so there were spells in the game where I thought we were going to nick a goal, but it wasn't our night.”

Now Max is looking forward to testing himself at League One level after coming on as a substitute in last weekend’s game against Blackburn.

“It’s a lot more physical that the Championship”, Lowe admitted.

“The Championship is obviously a hard league itself, but when you are playing the likes of Blackburn you know it’s going to be tough and it’s going to be the same on Saturday, so I’ve just got to get physically ready for it, be in the right mind-set and hopefully I will be fine.

“The lads have told me that every game is tough and they’ve also told me that they are a hardworking team, but we normally run people round and I’m sure that we can do that.”

The defeat last time out meant that the gap to second was cut to two points, but Lowe believes confidence remains high.

“We are confident because of the position we are in the table, but we are taking it game by game”, Max said.

“We are not getting ahead of ourselves. The confidence is there because we’ve just come off a good performance against West Ham and hopefully we can do it on Saturday as well.”
